Throughout this course, I have gained significant insights into translation science models and theories, which have broadened both my critical thinking and professional perspective. These frameworks emphasized the essential role of evidence-based practice (EBP) and quality improvement (QI) in achieving improved healthcare outcomes. The integration of continuous assessment models challenged my prior assumptions and enhanced my ability to critically evaluate and systematically apply clinical practices.

One of the notable challenges I experienced occurred during the literature search on the national practice problem of weight gain and its effect on mental health among adolescents and adults. The process of identifying relevant studies demanded a rigorous evaluation of abstracts, methodologies, and credibility of the evidence. This challenge, however, ultimately strengthened my ability to discern high-quality research, understand methodological rigor, and recognize the contribution of each study to the broader body of evidence (Falkenberg-Olson, 2019).

The translation science models studied throughout the course highlighted how DNP-prepared nurses are instrumental in shaping innovation within healthcare organizations. For example, the Diffusion of Innovation Theory was particularly impactful in guiding my understanding of how to implement practice changes.
