Good morning/afternoon. The Process Improvement Plan that I will present today is on Enhancing Emergency Room Throughput: A Process Improvement Plan. My name is [Student Name], and I will take you through a communication plan that will help this key change initiative. Emergency Room throughput is the process by which patients flow through the emergency room, across hospitalization, and are discharged within the emergency room. Patients are currently frustrated and undergo the process of overcrowding due to bottlenecks such as a long triage process, staff shortage, and slow diagnostics. Through our process improvement effort, we aim to reduce these workflows in order to increase the quality and efficiency of care. Increasing the speed of throughput in the ER will help not only to reduce the wait time but also enable patient satisfaction and workforce productivity. This is part of the bigger interest of the hospital to provide high-quality and patient-centered care without wasting resources. Successful communication will be at the forefront.

Roles of Formal Leadership

Hospital administrators, ER directors, and department heads are important formal leaders who should provide process improvement. They have the responsibility of defining the overall goal, providing the needed resources, and laying down structures of accountability. Formal leaders should also observe the progress by looking at performance measures and thereafter altering policies where necessary.
