Evaluation of Student 1: Hildegard

Hildegard succeeded in presenting most of the key aspects outlined in the rubric, creating a clear and informative presentation on Peplau’s theory of man-woman relationships. As for the content of the presentation, the title slide was satisfactory and the introduction provided a subject overview (2 points). The introduction was comprehensive before approaching the theorist whereas a few biographical aspects about the theorist and the way the theorist influenced the field of nursing were reviewed (3 points). The personal interest and how Peplau’s theory aligned with their professional goals was evident, which showed personal interest and understanding of the highlighted content (3 points). Explain each of the phases and the roles of Peplau’s nursing. The phases and the roles of the nurses according to Peplau were described in detail, thus demonstrating a good understanding of the framework (4 points). Kirkpatrick’s evaluation of the content: Peplau’s theory was discussed its relevance to nursing and healthcare was brought out clearly, and the possible relationship between the theory and the practice was well established (4 marks). There was a purposeful, clear identification of the application of the theory in clinical settings, with the specificity of needed skills taught, accompanied by relevant examples to help make the use of the theory more real-world and practical (4 points).

Overall, it was nice seeing the infographic explained, especially the ‘relationship’ aspect which is the core aspect of Peplau’s theory, hence the logic behind the three points. Although the link to health equity and disparities was established, it could have been done more profoundly and mentioned many of these aspects (2 points). Performing the critique of the theory is organized, and the critique focuses on the clarity, completeness, and accessibility of the theory, as well as the discussion of the benefits and drawbacks of each of the three points stated above (3 points). The conclusion therefore, was informative, strengthening key points as they embraced the aspects of Peplau’s theory as espoused in the presentation. Some references were given, which, while not following APA formatting fully, decreased the general sense of professionalism of the presentation slightly (2 points). In conclusion, this author submits that regarding the module assessment criteria and program learning outcomes, Student 1 comprehensively understood Peplau’s theory; communicated its significance in nursing practice; and presented a clear, professional, and well-organized report. After evaluating everything that was done in the presentation, this activity gets a total of forty-three out of fifty.

Student 2: Brittany Brusven

Overall, a good presentation was given which touched all the aspects of the rubric effectively with minor imbalance. The title slide was reasonable enough, while the introduction section established what the proposal was about (2 points). There were adequate biographical details in the heading of the theorist to give the reader a mere idea of their life and work profile (2 points). The following points lead to the choice of Good’s theory: The explanation for the choice of Good’s theory was logical and relevant to both personal interests and professional objectives (3 points). The explanation of good theory was quite concise and comprehensive enough, and it highlighted the overall features and propositions, including the goals of the theory (3 points).

The propositions were very clear and provided with a convincing description, thus showing good knowledge of the theory (3 points). In the presentation, the author demonstrated their understanding of where Good’s theory is situated in mid-range theory by providing a clear explanation of the applicability of Good’s theory to the mentioned mid-range theoretical perspectives (3 points). Three points of consideration were made focusing on Good’s theory; these were the following: The main points of Good’s theory were elucidated and indeed, there was a direct connection demonstrated between theory and practice. Further, secondary elaborations were made in the discourse of Good Works’ study and research (3 findings). The critique of the theory was logical, corresponding to its consequences and applicability, with good points given for the theory (3). Definitions and attributes were given, and there were cases along with success measures, and all of them are in the form of infographics making them more attractive and informative (2 marks). Proper examples were given where the distinct aspects of the theory were applied in different contexts and demonstrated practical applicability (3 points). It is for this reason that the goals and contributions discussion was exhaustive, it included an exhaustive discussion on the theoretical implications of the theory to nursing (4).

Alternatively, Janice Morse’s theory on suffering: The explanation was cogent, and the author tied this to Good’s theory as a means of showing an understanding of the relationship between both theories: (3 points). Overall, the presentation of a concrete and related example linked the two concepts and ensured their successful implementation in practice into three AP points. Citations were given, however, they may not have followed the APA format as strictly as they could have, which would take away just a slight bit of the professional appearance of the presentation (2 points). In this case, I noticed that Student 2 delivered a comprehensive and relevant discussion of Good’s theory and provided good examples highlighting its usefulness for practice in the nursing profession. Here, the author presents a total of 42 points out of 50 for the general assessment of the presentation.

Student 3: Sharon Zipporah Champion

This paper is to provide an interesting and informative review of Nola J. Pender’s Health Promotion Model (HPM), and I wish to thank Sharon Zipporah Champion for a well-written account. The first thing was the use of the title slide which is helpful since it gave a brief introduction to what the presentation is all about (Environmental Management). This is a comprehensive introduction to Nola Pender whereby all of the mentioned points cover her biography, achievements, and contribution to the nursing profession (3 points). The above provided a clear understanding of why Pender’s Health Promotion Model was chosen and how it relates to self-interest and also career aspirations (3 points). An essential aspect was the clarity of basic theory knowledge, and the definition of the most significant concepts, propositions, and goals of HPM (4 points). Upon watching Sharon, I was able to see how well she incorporated the theory within the mid-range framework that explores outcomes and the shared processes between an individual and his or her environment ( 3 points). Sharon described the theoretical assumptions and rationales of HPM, a theory that postulates that the concepts of personality presume a broad focus on identity and focus on self-image regarding health-related behaviors. This was done clearly and in some measure depth (3 points). Specifically, the discussion involved a critical analysis of the theory, benefits, and drawbacks; benefits include the patient-oriented focus of Meaningful Use Criteria, while drawbacks include tangible difficulties in quantifying abstract notions, such as self-esteem (3 points).

The main points of the material could be clearly explained using the connection between them that was described in the model. The points made in the infographic provided contributed to improving general knowledge and better understanding of the model’s main concepts and their connection (3). First and foremost, the author provided concise examples of the theory’s real-world application, and the examples illustrated were indeed feasible in different contexts (3 points). As for the contributions to nursing, all the aspects of the model were disclosed thoroughly, proving the relevance of the model contributing to the nursing practice even to the present day, and proving the high usage of the model in different countries (4 points). Sharon explained how critical race theory can apply to Pender’s model and how the concept of race and historical racism can easily plug into the HPM schema. This connection was meaningful and showed the understanding of how this type of health-related theory may overlap (3 points). Time-bound: Some references were given, but they may not have met the APA format fully, thus reducing the professional demeanor of the presentation slightly (2). To sum it up, Sharon Zipporah Champion did a marvelous job presenting the subject as all-encompassing and detailed, accompanied by well-interconnected ideas as well as a concise overview of Nola Pender’s Health Promotion Model and its implementation in the field of nursing. I would like to report that in the presentation activity, I was able to score a total of forty-four (44/50).
